A wall of wood, done right.

A privacy fence is the one most back yards ask for: kids and dogs in, the view out, and a little quiet. The work is in the details you only notice later.

  • BoardsSolid boards set side by side, so the fence reads as one surface from the finished side.
  • TopsDog-ear boards, the clipped-corner top you see in our photos.
  • HeightSix feet is what most of our privacy fences stand at. Ask if you need something different.
  • FacesOne finished side, one side showing posts and rails. We settle which way it faces on the walk.
  • SlopesOn a sloped yard the fence steps down in level sections instead of following the ground board by board.
  • GatesMatching walk gates, and wide double gates for a driveway. About gates

Privacy fence questions

Which side of a privacy fence faces my neighbor?
A privacy fence has one finished side and one side where the posts and rails show. Many people face the finished side out toward the neighbor or the street, and your HOA may have a rule about it. We talk it through on the walk. If you want it to look finished from both sides, a shadowbox fence does that.
Can you build a privacy fence on a sloped yard?
Yes. On a slope the fence steps down in level sections, like the fence at the top of this page. We look at how the ground falls when we walk the line with you.
Do I need HOA approval or a permit for a fence?
It depends on your neighborhood and your city or county. If you have an HOA, check its fence rules for height, style and which side faces out before the build. Ask us on the walk and we'll go over what to check.
How do I get a quote for a privacy fence?
